Landfill
Remediation – Kfar Saba Landfill
This landfill was a pirate site containing some 3,000 m3
of mixed waste, east of Kfar Saba, and as such was an environmental
hazard. With the planning of the Trans-Israel Highway it became clear that the
site lay directly in its path.
A.A. Engineers planned the site’s engineering remediation that was executed by
the highway company and the Kfar Saba Municipality. The work consisted of the
following main components:
External remodeling from a huge random hill (30 meters high covering 7.5
acres) to a geometrical structure, while erecting a 200 meter long,
10
meter
high flexible supporting wall at the side of the highway.
Sealing to prevent rainwater penetration and
wastewater formation.
Construction of a layer of landscaping soil supported by metal mesh over
the entire site surface.
Landscape remediation – planting stabilizing landscape plants over the site’s
surface.
